Three-Movie Weekend

Walk the Line was very romanitic. Reese Witherspoon sang beautifully and Joaquin P sang well, too, even if he didn’t sound exactly like Johnny Cash. I hate that the indie-cred-lapping critics are criticizing him for not sounding exactly like Johnny Cash. Who the heck could make their voice exactly like someone else’s, and why would you want anyone to? Joaquin and Reese harmonized beautifully and had awesome chemistry. Plus, the movie made us laugh. But (SPOILER) I wanted to see Johnny sing with Bono and that didn’t happen. Just kidding. Very romantic story whether it was fictionalized to death or not. I want to buy the soundtrack with Reese and Joaquin singing. Which is weird because I’ve never been a fan of Johnny Cash. Not that I dislike him… I just never got into his stuff. There. I said it. I never got into him, or Hank Williams Sr., or any of those other old-school country-esque guys. Ooh, disgusting. Let me just turn in my Gen X Kewl Kard right now…

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was okay. My boyfriend had never seen the previous movies or read the books, and he said it was better than he’d expected. But he had low expectations. My expectations were a little too high. But it had several cute, beautiful, and scary moments. I predict Death Eater costumes will be big next Halloween. We laughed at the moment where they revealed that Daniel Radcliffe has obviously been working out, and someone wolf-whistled. That was funny. I like it when audience members do amusing things, as opposed to super duper annoying things, as described below. A bunch of retarded parents brought their little tiny kids. Who brings tiny kids to a movie in which children die? Stupid parents, that’s who. The tiny kids babbled through the beginning of the movie, until the scary parts cranked up. Then they got absolutely silent, and stayed that way til the end. Maybe their parents did it on purpose, actually. Maybe they wanted to traumatize their kids for a little peace and quiet?

Pride and Prejudice was so awesome that it overcame the non-awesomeness of the old lady behind us who narrated the whole movie on 2-second delay for her stupid friend. Everyone’s bitching about the ending, saying the movie was “tarted up.” [SPOILER:]Only one quick visual involving man calves felt tarty to me. The ending dialogue was cheesy but still cute. On the other hand, my boyfriend patiently waited all the way until the credits before saying, “I wanted to see anal.”

But don’t let that fool you. He loved it, and so did I, and we walked out giggling and snuggling. It was funny, beautiful, and hot. With a good score, too. I love Keira Knightly and, by the end, I loved Matthew McFadden, too. The guy who played Collins was hilarious. It was all good.

My Girl Crushes

I am in love with Rachel McAdams and feel that she can do very little wrong. To a lesser extent, I’ve loved Keira Knightley for a while. Also, no matter what anyone says, I have to love Cameron Diaz, not because of the way she looks but because she cracks me up.
