Hero
We saw Hero last night, and it ruled. You should go see it now.
I’d seen the trailer, which made it sound like it was The Jet Li Show. I’d heard people mistakenly inform me that Quentin Tarantino directed it. Besides that, I knew nothing.
I had no idea until last night that it starred Tony Leung (famous star of one of my favorite movies), In the Mood for Love‘s Maggie Cheung, and super bad ass Zhang Ziyi.
Okay – if I’d known all that, I would have been way more pumped to see this movie. But it’s okay, because that just made it a very pleasant surprise. It was like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, but more cohesive and beautiful.
Run, don’t walk to see it now. Unless you’re a seven-year-old boy who doesn’t read subtitles quickly and is tired out from playing DDR with his mom in the theater lobby. If you’re one of those, then you’ll be bored. But, otherwise, you should totally go see it.
