Let’s talk about what it means when we say “robot love”.
You say it means metal people simulating the human act of sex. If you want, you can punctuate this by acting it out. Move one body part at a time, always to the beat.
But I wonder if robots have needs that others don’t understand. Needs involving the exchange of electricity, lube and yes, even love. Maybe. You don’t know. Admit to yourself that maybe they do.
poetic license
Next month a writer from somewhere else is coming to steal one of our local writers away. First they go to Vegas for the ceremony that will keep everything above-board. Then they go to New Mexico to live happily ever after, I suppose. I went to a congratulations-and-bon-voyage party for them last night. I hope they do live happily ever after.
At this time, however, I would like to caution Texas writers to be careful. It’s all well and good to fall in love with writers from other states at readings and book festivals. It’s fine to take sexual advantage of those foreign writers in one-night, two-night, or six-month stands.
But do we really want to let writers from other states force us to emigrate, thus letting these other states profit from our art? Think about it. It’s mighty reckless to mess with Texas, don’t you think? What kind of example are we setting for our children? (And when I say children, note that I mean pure-bred Texas children, not the little half breeds you will undoubtedly be raising.)
Just kidding. Congratulations, writers in love!
love corrupts (lyrics, I mean)
Muskrat Suzy, Muskrat Tim… go to Central Market, graze the bulk food bins
Do the jitterbug or just watch it on TV
Go see indie films or to cafes for iced tea
And they whirled and they twirled and they tangled
Got the bed sheets all freaking mangled
Floatin’ like pollution above
Looks like muskrat lo-o-o-o….o-ove!
okay, that’s enough
I have to drive to Austin now to pick up my kids. I’ll fold the laundry tomorrow. I promise I won’t reference the song stylings of the Captain and Tenille anymore (this month.)
