Cate and the event that will bring us together again

I called my friend Cate. She’s coming to JournalCon in October. Hell freaking yeah, because that means I get to see her, and I haven’t seen her since three years ago when I was a housewife who could save up her allowance to go to Toronto. We’ll have fun around town, if we get the time.

I don’t know for sure what’s going to happen because I’m supposed to be a JournalCon panelist. They invited me in a very nice way to go and speak on two panels. One is “Read the Site, Buy the Book”. The other is “Writing for Your Readers”.

I feel sort of weird about doing this because I’ve never been a hardcore part of the Online Journaling Community. I looked at the list of attendees and, yes, there are a few people about which I can say, “Oh, yeah. I’ve seen that person’s journal and it would be pretty cool to meet him/her.” But there are far many more people on that list who can say, “Who the frick is Gwen and why do I care?”

I don’t know if you’re going to JournalCon, but if you do and you want to hang out at my panel and if you give me any indication whatsoever that you care, I will tell you for free exactly how I got my book deal. Okay? Is that a good bargain or what? You don’t even have to say that you care. You can just indicate it subtly to me, by winking with your right eye or covering your mouth half way with your left hand and going “Ahem” in a semi-phony way.

Either that or you can go to the other panel and I’ll tell you exactly how I Write for My Readers.

I might make some charts or diagrams, if I have time. I don’t know. I’m not even sure what I’m gonna wear yet. One thing for sure, though, is that I’m gonna see Cate again and take her, her man, and her mom to the best thrift store in Austin. That’s gonna freaking rule.
